Gaudì

Design Matteo Nunziati

“Mother Nature has always been my mentor, and the tree close to my studio my teacher”
These wise words were spoken by Antoni Gaudí, undeniably the leading figure of Catalan modernism and the promoter of curves”… Curves are constantly varied in their orientation, driven by a sort of inner dynamite charge that is ready to explode in all directions.
A line that grows, it struggles and contorts as a natural element, permitting straight sections, breaking, returning, conquering, even dominating the space from time to time”.
This thought-train was the inspiration for the new bed designed for Flou.

The double-size bed Gaudí is a tribute to wood, to the power of Nature and its unwitting ability to constantly create new shapes that cannot be
classified. The headboard and footboard in heartwood are the result of precious artisan processes; they create a sort of sinuous framework ready to receive the textile upholstery.
The fabric appears to simply rest on the frame, embracing the wood and following the natural shapes. In reality it is the fruit of a complex and highly detailed design study, to produce a seamless surface without any visible stitching.
This procedure exalts the beauty of wood and gives the bed a welcoming and deliciously exclusive appearance.

Jaipur

Design Carlo Colombo

Jaipur is the result of a profound stylistic study; it interprets with different materials and solutions Flou’s longstanding tailoring tradition.
The headboard decorates the sleeping quarters and becomes the focal point in the bedroom; the minimal sommier completes the overall effect with precisely balanced volumes.

The new bed, Jaipur, by Carlo Colombo, is immediately identifiable: its pattern of macro wooden weaves is textile-like, with the warp and weft extended to infinity to exalt and reinterpret the tailoring skills of the Flou textile tradition in a contemporary fashion.
A modern boiserie that becomes the protagonist of the bedroom and, despite the conventional idea of rigidity suggested by the material, it emits a sensation of softness, comfort, like a natural cocoon that provides refuge and relaxation.
The upholstered sommier with its fabric or leather covers has a sharp minimal shape, and this balances perfectly with the headboard to create a wonderfully harmonious ensemble.

A bed that almost designed itself, like the spontaneous and natural evolution of the Myplace sofas: a soft cushion that grows and expands to become the headboard, a chaise-longue that extends to become a sommier.
What results is an ideal place where we can throw all abandon to the wind and relax our mind and body.

The double-size bed Myplace reflects the design of the Myplace collection of modular sofas, re-iterating and increasing its strongpoints: it provides an incredibly tangible feeling of comfort and welcome.
The proportions of the bed have been carefully studied and enhanced by high mattresses.
